Title:  GTW 5936
Description:  Waiting on a green signal before moving south on a BNSF freight, this SD40-2 is no stranger to Texas. Delivered to Missouri Pacific as SD40-2 3192 in March 1975, this EMD entered the UP era wearing the same number but was retired wearing full UP yellow dress. In 1990 Grand Trunk Western picked up this diesel and after a period wearing yellow with the GT logo on the hood was renumbered 5936 and eventually given full GTW blue and orange. Although this unit has worked for different roads, the Mopac ordered hood mounted bell remained.

Description:  Delivered new to Missouri Pacific as GP38-2 955, then renumbered MP 2106 later becoming UP 2106. After being released by UP this unit joined the Helm Leasing fleet as HATX 210 then rebuilt for UP and returning on long term lease as 1840 in full UP dress. During the mass renumbering this Geep was given number UP 340 and when the railroad removed all leased power from the roster it became HLCX 340. Seen here after a Helm Leasing maroon dip job and wearing yet a new number but still on long term lease to UP.

Description:  Both locomotives in this photo ride on the same size frame but that is where the similarities end. The lead locomotive was delivered as UP SD40-2 3613 in September 1979, retired then rebuilt by RailPower and returned as a six axle Genset RP20CD. The trailing unit was built for CNW as SD38-2 6651 in January 1975 and after the UP merger assigned to hump service. Although the EMD now wears UP yellow and grey, a scar on the nose remains where the CNW bell was mounted.

Description:  Built for Missouri Pacific as GP38-2 2217 in July 1980, this diesel joined the UP roster in 1983 but kept the same number. During the renumbering program brought on by the SP merger, this locomotive became 717 and received remote control equipment. Jenks blue is visible above the radiator intake screen.
