This old timer was delivered to Baltimore & Ohio as GP40 3687 in November 1966. For three weeks in October to November 1980 she became 9687 then 6503 until the CSX merger when the numberboards were changed to 6303. On September 12, 1989 this Geep was retired and went to Morrison-Knudsen for rebuilding. On December 28, 1990 this locomotive emerged from the M-K shop as Cotton Belt GP40M-2 7287 in full SSW dress. After the Union Pacific merger the new owner renumbered her to 5422 in September 1997 and finally 1522 in December 1999. Hard to believe this is a 46+ year old diesel. |
