Looking at home in UP's Davidson Yard wearing Armor Yellow and Harbor Mist Grey, this CIT Group SD40-2 has quite a history. Delivered to Canadian National as SD40 5196 in August 1971 by GMD this unit worked for CN until retirement then was rebuilt by NRE and sent to Union Pacific as SD40-2 4764 in September 1999. UP renumbered this unit to 2814 unit before releasing this EMD which then joined the CIT Group lease fleet as CEFX 2814 but still sporting the UP paint scheme with a flashy reflective nose. Some time after being released by Canadian National this diesel picked up the Dash 2 "window" on the long hood but still has the older Flexicoil trucks. |

After retirement, this engine worked for Railcar Leasing as RGMX 5207, then National Railway Equipment as NREX 5207, and finally rebuilt by Alstom for CIT Group as CEFX 3107 SD40-2. GWI purchased this diesel and assigned it to Dallas, Garland, and Northeastern as DGNO 3419 arriving in full GWI orange, yellow, and black. |
