PRR 9356
Photographed sitting behind a fence near the Museum of the American Railroad in Fair Park but reportedly owned by Dallas Terminal Railway is a former Pennsylvania 44 Tonner. The only visible markings is a faded TSI on the cab and 449 on the frame. An internet search reveals this locomotive was delivered as Pennsylvania 9356 (the last 44 tonner built for PRR) in August 1948. This locomotive worked for both Penn Central and Conrail but that's where the trail grows cold. After PC/CR I could not find any information on her whereabouts and how TSI 449 ended up on painted on the side but instead of being scrapped she ended up on Dallas Terminal Railway.

Steve Young General PRR 9356 was indeed a 44-tonner, c/# 30245. It might have been built in 1948 but it was shipped on August 26 1949. In any case it can't be this locomotive, because this locomotive is not a 44-tonner; 44-tonners don't have hood-end walk-arounds. Further information on 9356 is as follows;Hettleman (D)/Streigel (D), Baltimore, Md (not sure what the "D" stands for); Vulcan Materials, Clark, N J; Celotex Inc #3, Hamlin, Tex. Unfortunately I don't have the dates for those moves. Hopefully this information might be helpful in sorting out which locomotive this actually is. Thanks for your shots, by the way - they are fascinating! 7/20/2018 7:43:57 PM
