ECRX 36
Title:  ECRX 36
Description:  It took me nearly forever but I captured the elusive ECRX 36 outside of the fence that guards her home. This SW1200 was delivered to New Haven as 640 in January 1956, to Penn Central as 9363, then Conrail with the same number. After retirement from Conrail this switcher joined Louisville & Indiana with the same number, then to Pacific Harbor Lines as 36. After PHL acquired new power this switcher was released and joined the Econorail fleet as ECRX 36 and has worked at and automotive distribution facility in northern Fort Worth for the past several years.

TXNW 106
Title:  TXNW 106
Description:  While driving on parallel IH-35, I spotted TXNW 106 SW1200 tucked behind the power of a northbound Union Pacific manifest. While I cannot confirm, I believe this is former Texas, Gonzalez, and Northern TXGN 106 which was originally delivered to Missouri Pacific as MP 1156 SW1200 in March 1965.

DRGW 134
Title:  DRGW 134
Description:  I was very surprised to catch this unpatched, original paint, Rio Grande switcher parked in Saginaw. The sign in front of the radiator intake states "automatic shutters keep clear". Note the new pilot face and rear stepwell gusset. This shot alone made my day.

BN 253
Title:  BN 253
Description:  Idling at the BNSF Temple Yard, this former Burlington Northern SW1200 appears to be resting against the wheel stops. Delivered to Colorado & Southern as SW1200 153 in February 1959, this switcher kept this number until C&S was assimilated into Burlington Northern becoming BN 253 in 1982. In September 1999 this unit received a fresh coat of BNSF H1 paint and a new number becoming 3521 and kept this number until retirement. This switcher was sold to Koppel Steel and is now used as a plant switcher based in Koppel, PA as KPLX 35211 still wearing H1 paint.

Description:  Delivered by EMD as SP SW1200 1618, renumbered to SP 2283 in 1965, to Chaparral Steel as CHPX 2283. Chaparral was purchased by Gerdau Steel so this unit could become GAXX 2283. NREX 2283
Title:  NREX 2283
Description:  This SW1200 has worked at the Chaparral Steel plant in nearby Midlothian for the past few years along side two other SW1200s. Chaparral was purchased by Gerdau which brought in new gensets leaving the EMDs unemployed. The three former Chaparral EMDs are travelling under NREX reporting marks but have been sitting in BNSF Alliance Yard for nearly a month, perhaps these guys are homeless? Note the SP light stalk still intact on the cab.
