SP 9794 |
Description: |
Lately a lot of unpatched SP power has been showing up in Fort Worth. SP 9794 is especially special, this is the last true GP built for a US railroad (GP20Ds don't count!) as well as the highest numbered (and last) GP60 on the SP roster. UP 2004 is the locomotive that sholdn't be, this locomotive is either SP 9701 or 9704 but I've not had any luck locating frame information. Can anyone shed some light? |

SP 9794 |
Description: |
SP 9794 GP60 idles at a red signal with a southbound manifest bound for nearby Fort Worth. This faded locomotive is significant in several ways. It is the highest numbered (and last GP60) on the Espee roster, the last GP60 built, and the final domestic General Purpose (GP) locomotive built new by Electro-Motive. On September 18, 2013, SP 9794 fell under the Union Pacific flag and was patched UP 1015. |
