Battered, abused, unloved, but still at work for Espee. After the UP merger this unit was renumbered UP 9871 and retired from service on April 12, 2010. Three months later 9871/5401 was scheduled to be auctioned by UP at their Denver Burnham shops but a few hours before auction time this unit was pulled from the line and donated to Colorado Railroad Museum.
